2011 Halloween Dolls

Before going to the Thrift Store today
I stopped by Target to see if the Target
Exclusive Halloween Barbie had come in.
Went over to the doll aisle, I saw the Target
Exclusive Holiday Barbie, but no Halloween Barbie.
Doesn't Halloween come before Christmas?
I saw one of the toy employees and asked if the
Halloween Barbie is coming in. She told me it's
over by the Halloween Items.
So I go over to the other side of the store.
Looking thru the decorations, costumes, etc.
Can't find Barbie.
Saw another Employee and asked where would
she be.  She called over on her Walkie-Talkie and
found out she was in the Seasonal Candy Aisle.
Would never have thought to look for her in the
Halloween Candy.
We finally find her on the bottom shelf.
Halloween Treat
Made in Indonesia
Target Exclusive

In the Halloween Candy Aisle I also found

Dressed as a Bumble Bee
Target Exclusive
Made in Indonesia
Kelly was the only one left on the shelf.
From information I found on the net
there are two other dolls in this series.
A Skeleton and A Pumpkin (with orange hair)

Another doll that I found was

Mini Lalaloopsy
Candy Broomstick
Target Exclusive
Made in China
Loved her accessories, a black cat, a Magic Spells book
and a cauldron with a ladle.
No other Halloween versions of this doll.
Left Target with all 3 dolls.
Before going home today, I stopped
at A&P to pick up some groceries.
They had the Barbie Halloween Doll.
It didn't impress me, so I walked out without her.

Meeting Chyna Doll

I finally had the pleasure of
meeting Chyna Doll
aka  Cecile of
Take a few minutes to check
out her site!
We were going to get together last
Tuesday, but the weather was bad.
Our first stop today was the Flea
Market, where we both
bought dolls.
Then it was off to the Thrift
Store, but we made a quick stop
at Toy's R Us.
We walked out of TRU's without
spending a dime.
Finally got to the Thrift Store but
there weren't any dolls
 that either of us wanted.
Cecile bought a few other items.
I can't wait to see what she creates
with one of the items she bought.
While at the Thrift Store you can see some
of the items they haven't put out yet.
One was a doll treehouse, complete
with a tree and a rope ladder.
And there was also a doll house.
We wanted to have a closer look but they
didn't bring them out. :(
It was time to go home since Cecile had work
later on in the day.
Cecile brought me a present.
Close up of her face
Her name will be Chyna Doll
(aka Cecile)
I just love the outfit Cecile made for her.
She also brought me
It's a glass votive candle holder with
3 of her small creations and their pictures.
I haven't unwrapped it yet.
I brought Cecile some nude dolls to
use some of her magic on.

It's was great having someone to talk to while
doll hunting.  Someone who shares your passion for dolls.
We will be going again sometime in the future.

Remember to check out her blog.

Star Spangled Dolls - Jazz Performers

Sometimes if you wait and are
patient enough you are able to find
dolls from your want list.
Ever since I purchased some of the Sunshine Family
dolls in May, I wanted to get some of the dolls
from the Star-Spangled series.
Jazz Performers
Star Spangled Series of dolls
Marked on head Mattel 1973
On back - Made in Taiwan
We're Mellie and Louis Harris from the port city where life is music and music is jazz. Louis plays the trumpet with Jelly Roll Morton, the famous piano player. I sing blues. We play in parks to people dancing on the grass, at cotillions or in caberets ' till the night is filled with swirling colors and a sweet jazz wail. Our favorite place to play is on the street corners for the whole world to hear!
About 2 weeks ago I happened to come across
their auction on E-Bay.  They were listed with another set
of Steve and Stephanie dolls.  It never said anything in the auction
about the Star Spangled Series.
Supposedly this set dolls and the other set came from
a Mattel Employee.  No boxes.
They are all original.  The Steve and Stephanie also
have wrist tags which made them more desirable.
I was happy to get both sets of dolls at a very
reasonable price.

When I picked up this doll
last Saturday, I wasn't sure who she was.
Her head was marked Olmec 1992 and
her body marked Hasbro 1988.
At first I thought maybe she was re-bodied, but
her head and body matched perfectly.
It seems that the hair has been undone.
She has one braid left in the back of her head.
She could either be Crimp and Bead Imani
or Pop Star Imani.
Hasbro introduced these 2 dolls in 1994 and 1995.
She was found without clothes, so I dressed her
in a Pink Label Barbie outfit. (School Spirit Barbie 1995)

Vintage Black Doll

Need help!
Today, while walking around the Flea Market, I stopped
at a new dealer where I had bought the Gone With The Wind Dolls,
At first, I saw the Action Figures and played with Barbies that
he had.  After looking thru the Action figures and picked out two.
Out of the corner of my eye I spied her.
12 inch black doll.
Stuffed with sawdust. Her foot needs some
mending. Some of the sawdust is falling out.
I am assuming she is from the 1940's or 50's.
No labels to identify her.
Skirt is original since it is the same material as
her head scarf.  Scarf is not removable.
I know black dolls from that era are rare.
I believe her face is painted gauze.
Her face paint is still good, not sure if she was
repainted. (I don't know how I would be
able to tell if she was)
Her only flaw is that her foot needs mending.
Any information on her would greatly be appreciated!

the last few times I went.

French Bread and Cheese make a good
mid-afternoon snack.
Sausage Pizza topped with mushrooms and peppers.
Great lunch for the kids.
A delightful double decker pudding with cherries on the side.
And our last item for today!
Everybody's favorite, Lime Gelatin with fruit slices.
Let's dig in.
See You Soon.
Love ya, Cindy

Frannie here:
Cindy is a Sophie Liv Doll by Spin Master.
The background is "Jody's Country Kitchen" by Ideal
From the 1970's.
Purchased from Tara, one of my blog followers.
(Thanks Tara!)
The food items I purchased today at the Thrift Store.
They are magnets, but I thought they would make great food
items.  They were still wrapped in plastic.  Had stickers
saying they were purchased at A.C. Moore (craft store).
Made in Taiwan.
Hope you enjoyed Cindy's Story.

Today, my other half's daughter asked if I would sell her
Cabbage Patch Dolls . She has about 10 of them.
I most likely will be selling them on E-Bay.  So if you are interested
in Cabbage Patch dolls, watch for my posting when I am putting them
up on E-Bay.

Question:  Has anyone seen a Halloween Barbie for 2011?  Went to Target today.
There were none.
Is Mattel making them this year?
