I'm Sara Jane Benson. My family, and 40
others in covered wagons, are heading west
on the Northwest Trail. We've taken along all
we own, from cows to plows. Sometimes I knit
to pass time or I watch the beautiful countryside.
I've seen herds of buffalo grazing -- with
wild flowers all around.
Today we are going to Jim Bridger's fort.
He's a famous frontier explorer and will
help us reach the Pacific Ocean
before winter comes.
