Sadly, Claudene Christian, the founder of the Collegiate Doll Company was a victim of Hurricane Sandy, on 2012-10-29. She was one of the two crew members who died when the replica of the HMS Bounty built for the 1960 movie went down off North Carolina.
I had never heard of Ms Christian, or the Doll Company, prior to the sinking. I had been interested in the Bounty for some time. But as I read about her I came to realize that Ms Christian was a remarkable person.
I picked up a Texas Christian Cheerleader outfit for my doll and searched for this series on the internet and discovered it wasn't from Barbie/Mattel but from "Claudene Christian Collection" so I searched that and read about her and her story. She seems like a quirky, interesting woman with plenty of spirit and its sad she did not make it when the rest of her crew did.
